Card reader fails to capture Goodluck Jonathan In Bayelsa

Paschal Nnawunezi       Sunday, 6 December 2015
former President Goodluck Jonathan

Just as it happened during the March 28 presidential election, card reader again failed to capture biometrics of former President Goodluck Jonathan in yesterday’s governorship election in Bayelsa State.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officer in charge of his polling unit had to call for a replacement after about 30 minutes of fruitless effort to get the former president accredited. Thereafter, Jonathan and his wife were accredited. However, his mother and sister were not accredited by card reader.

While the drama lasted, Jonathan, who had reported at his Otuabula polling unit 13, appealed for calm, saying he expected INEC to have perfected the issue of card reader, learning from the hiccups experienced in the last general elections.

He stressed the need to improve performance of card readers before the 2019 general elections.
